One of IMXA's activities involves organising lectures in Thessaloniki and other towns and cities in northern Greece. They are given by members of the Institute's research staff and other distinguished scholars from Greece and abroad, and concern history, culture, and the contemporary political, economic, and social problems facing Greece, the Balkans, and the eastern Mediterranean in general. In recent years, the lectures have usually been held in "Basil Laourdas" Hall, the Institute's own lecture and conference hall. IMXA publishes the texts of most of the lectures either in Balkan Studies or as separate works.
